Technical Manager – with Product development

As a technical manager, it would be your responsibility to lead and direct a small team of about 6 – 4 in development and 2 in IT.

Your role will include managing people – setting goals, tracking process and giving direction.

You would have experience in product development and building teams. The company is currently updating and supporting legacy systems – however, there is a requirement to build new platforms, services and products either integrating into existing technology or building new platforms.

As such a broad skill set is required to assess and utilise existing resource and look to bring in new skill sets and people into the team as required.

You will work closely with the development and UX teams on a daily basis, analysing data, defining requirements, and implementing marketable features that drive our core business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with an engineering team and any other partners to deliver the product you envision
  • Work with our marketing and sales teams to iteratively launch product
  • Carefully analyse feedback and product success in order to drive further improvements
  • You will be required to support effective budget management within the constraints of a project. You will have to monitor projected budgets against expenditure.
  • You will communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context. You will have to make complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences. You will advocate on behalf of a team and communicate what it does, to create trust and authenticity.
  • You will help to support effective budget management within the constraints of a project. You can monitor projected budgets against expenditure.
  • You will have to understand the different phases of product delivery and can contribute to, plan or run them. You will have to maintain a product or process through the delivery phases, into live and then into retirement. You will lead a team through the different phases of the product delivery life cycle. You will be required to maintain and iterate a product over time to continuously meet user needs. You can understand incident management and service support to ensure that products are built effectively.
  • You will be responsible to solve issues and unblock problems. You will lead a team and set the pace, ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments. You can engage in elements of risk management such as effectively managing and tracking the mitigation of risks. You can manage various dependencies across teams, departments.

  • You can take a consistent and ongoing approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, managing uncertainty, metrics and measurements, contingency planning and roadmapping. You will communicate plans, planning assumptions and progress to a range of stakeholders. You can maintain the cadence of delivery and manage the relationships between different people within and across teams.
  • Ideally will have a strong mix of the below skills and experience:
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development
  • Familiarity with standard project tools (C++, Azure Devops boards, Jira Trello etc)
  • Customer-centric and have a strong desire to understand your users’ perspective and need
  • Strong, cross-functional and cross-org collaborator
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • A sense of urgency, ownership, and drive to get things done

HR Consultant and Administrator

LOCATION: Office Based in Birmingham, B16 8PE
REPORTING TO: Chairman
PROPOSED START: ASAP
BASIC SALARY: Subject to experience

BASIC FUNCTION
HR Consultant and Administrator will manage the company’s employee relations, payroll and performance management. You will also be responsible for the day 2 day running of the head office including H&S and Facilities. 


PRINCIPAL AREAS OF ACTIVITY:
•    Dealing with various HR queries throughout the business
•    Reviewing and updating job descriptions
•    Advising managers on recruitment and selection strategies
•    Assisting with and developing recruitment campaigns
•    Coordinating the appointment process for successful applicants
•    Payroll on Xero
•    Negotiating terms and conditions of employment with staff
•    Providing advice and playing a major role in work reviews and change processes
•    Using HR information systems to access, input and compile data 
•    Identifying development needs
•    Updating and Maintaining our HR Iris System
•    Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have and managing their expectations 
•    Researching and recommending performance evaluation methods (e.g. employee appraisal systems)
•    Monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation
•    Looking after all company incentive schemes
•    Supporting the CEO with various capability investigations, including grievance and disciplinary
•    Driving the business performance in relation to the organisation’s objectives
•    Liaising with our H&S consultations to ensure all policies are in place and up to date. 
•    Acting as the point of contact for hiring managers, employees and other HR team members
•    Ordering office & IT equipment

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Level 3/5 CIPD HR QUALIFICATION essential
•    2-3 Years’ experience working in a HR role
•    Xero experience preferred but not essential, training can be given. 
•    HR IRIS experience preferred but not essential, training can be given.
