Market News: Vodafone will switch on its 5G network for both consumers and business customers in seven UK cities on 3 July 2019 and offer 5G roaming in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain this summer! The first cities to experience this super-speedy, highly responsive mobile technology will be Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, and London.
Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Newbury, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington and Wolverhampton will follow later this year. The UK is ahead of the game in adopting 5G and it will price 5G the same as 4G for both business customers and consumers. A choice of 5G smartphones will be available to purchase this summer, with the first smartphone going on sale as soon as next week.
So what does 5G mean and what opportunities will it bring? Along with faster mobile data speeds, it's said 5G will bring low-latency live-streamed virtual reality content, superior voice and video calling and improved reach for voice and data in hard-to-reach areas. Low- latency will open up new real-time experiences we've never had before, delivering new markets, services and enhanced consumer offerings.
Interactive services As 5G promises to bring mobile connectivity speeds in line with today’s home and office experiences and a value that brings more accessible and richer services, it has the potential to positively impact every walk of life from retail and hospitality to those delivering life-saving emergency services. 5G will enable more types of multimedia transmissions to occur more quickly, which will enable multi-player gaming, holographic calls and a whole new level of interactive services.
Quality products and services delivered through mobile will further expand the reach, capability and relevance of the mobile eco-system, including the demand for a robust and easily accessible payment solution that consumers and merchants can really trust.
DMB is excited to be part of this evolution! 5G: it's the future!
